17th Century Doglock Inert

The Doglock got its name from the easily visible “dog leg” safety catch positioned behind the cock. This style was developed in the 1640’s as an improvement on earlier types of flintlock ignition.

They were used by the British army until just after the War of Spanish Succession when the first of the, what became known as the Brown Bess series, began to appear. Fitted throughout in iron the correctly un-bridled frizzen is depicted, as are the period correct three lock bolts.

Ideal for English Civil War re-enactment enthusiasts, and 30 Years war re-enactments.

Hardened frizzen, and fully working lock.
